With the Supreme Court’s latest ruling over NEET 2016 attracting a flurry of queries from medical aspirants, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a Frequently Asked Question on the overhauled medical entrance test.

LatestNEET 2017 will be conducted in the first week of May 2017 and NEET 2017 application form will be available in the month of December 2016.

Supreme Court on NEET 2016:

Supreme Court on May 9, 2016 ruled that NEET 2016 Phase 2 exam scheduled to be conducted on July 24 can be appeared by all candidates irrespective of their appearance in AIPMT/NEET Phase 1 held on May 1. However, NEET phase 1 examinees who appear for NEET Phase 2 will lose the NEET Phase 1 score. The apex court also cancelled state level and private medical entrance exams, observing that there was no infirmity in the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) regulation on the ground that it affects rights of states or the private institutions observing that observed. What is National Eligibility cum

Entrance Test (NEET)?

For the current year, the All India Pre-Medical/Pre- Dental Entrance Examination conducted by CBSE for 15% all India seats has been changed to National Eligibility cum Entrance Test as per the directives of the Supreme Court of India delivered in various decisions on NEET

What is NEET I

The All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination held on May 1, 2016 has been considered as Phase I of NEET

What is NEET II

This is the second phase of NEET only for the current year to give the opportunity to the candidates to appear in NEET as stated in the judgment delivered by the Supreme Court of India on NEET

 

Through NEET against which seats admissions  will  be made

NEET 2016 is applicable for admissions to the following:-All India Quota Seats

  • State Government Quota Seats where the

  • State Government concerned so opts

  • Private/Management/NRI Quota Seats in all Private Medical / Dental Colleges or any Private/Deemed University

 

 

Who can apply for NEET II

Following candidates can apply in NEET 2016 Phase II:

  • Left out candidates who could not register in AIPMT-2016/NEET I

  • Candidates who were registered in AIPMT 2016/NEET I but could not appear in NEET I

  • Candidates who were registered in AIPMT 2016/NEETI and had appeared but have apprehension that they had not prepared well subject to submission of an undertaking to give up their candidature for NEET I

How to remit fee for NEET – II 2016

The  examination  fee  for  NEET  –  II  2016  can  be remitted in the following manner:

  • Online payment through Debit/Credit Card

  • Payment     through     e-Challan     at     the branches of HDFC Bank/ICICI Bank/Syndicate Bank/State Bank of India/Canara Bank/e-wallet(CSC)

From which date the NEET II, 2016 forms will be available

The Online application for  NEET 2016  will  be available from May 26, 2016

Last date to fill NEET 2016 Phase 2 application form

June 21, 2016 (if exam fee is paid through e-challan) June 25, 2016 (if exam fee is paid through online)

What is the scheduled date for web hosting of Admit Cards for NEET-II, 2016

The tentative schedule of hosting of Admit Cards is July 8, 2016.

When  will  be  the  result  of NEET-II, 2016 declared

Expected date is August 17, 2016

 

In 2013, NEET was declared illegal and unconstitutional by the Supreme Court as it was in opposition with the right of private, minority and linguistic institutions to admit students. Since then, many state governments are conducting their admission tests separately. Currently, about 80 - 90 entrance medical examinations are conducted by different examination authorities in India. However, with the SC restoring NEET, all the state level medical entrance exams stand scrapped.

 

About 6-7 lakh candidates annually appear for medical entrance tests in India for admissions to over 52,000 MBBS seats in more than 400 medical and dental colleges of India.
